Choosing The Best Self Tanners
If you are going to spending a lot of time in your bathing suit and one of our high-end sarongs while you are on vacation, then it is important to wear plenty of sunscreen. In one of our previous blogs, we talked a little bit about why it is so important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. We know what you’re thinking...one of the best things about going on a tropical vacation is coming home with beautiful, bronzed skin! How are you supposed to get a nice dark tan if you are constantly reapplying sunscreen? Well, if you are looking for a way to get beautiful, brown skin without putting your health at risk, then what you need is an effective self-tanner.
Self-tanners come in a variety of different formulas and applications. While some formulas tend to provide more natural coverage than others, it really comes down personal preference when selecting a self-tanner. However, if you are new to self-tanning, then here are a few safe options you can try to get that natural, sun-kissed glow you’ve been looking for:
Gradual tanners are the easiest formulas to use at home, however, it will take some time to get the color you want. If you go with a gradual tanner, we recommend that you start regularly applying about a month and half before your trip. This should give you enough time to build up a nice tan for your vacation. Start using this every other day and increase to a daily application until you reach the color you’re after.
Okay, so we can be pretty forgetful and we understand that it can be tough trying to remember to apply your gradual tanner every day. If you are looking for a self-tanner with a quick and easy application that will provide you with instant color, then try using tan towels. Just remember to wear gloves of some sort during application so you don't stain your palms.
Gel formulas are a great option for those of you who have never applied self-tanners before. They glide on easily, offering plenty of coverage, and absorb quickly, so you don't have to worry about waiting for the formula to sink into your skin. This is another great option if you want a quick tan before you jet off on your next tropical vacation.
