Helpful Tips for Washing and Caring for Your Sarong

After you return from your week long, spring break vacation it will be time to get things cleaned up and reorganized. While nothing is better than spending your days roaming and exploring breathtaking beaches in your favorite sarong, it is likely your sarong will be overdue for a cleaning. With the sand, sun, and salty air, your sarong is bound to to feel less than fabulous at the end of your vacation. It is important to know how to care for and wash your sarong in order to preserve its quality and life. Fortunately, we have a few helpful tips for caring for our high end sarongs.

1. Go Ahead and Machine Wash- While hand washing your sarong is always an option, and is probably the safest option, it is perfectly ok to wash your sarong in the washing machine. We recommend that you wash your sarong separately and be sure to wash it on the most gentle setting possible. If you use too strong of a wash setting, you risk the possibility of your sarong being ruined.
2. Use Minimal Detergent- Because many of our sarongs are made of very light and breathable material, it is important to use little to no detergent when washing your sarong. The detergent could damage or alter the delicate fabric.
3. Line Dry- While it might be alright to dry your sarong in the dryer (again on the lowest setting), we recommend that you always line dry it instead. Since they are made from such a breathable fabric, it will not take long for your sarong to dry. Line drying will also help eliminate wrinkles and help protect your sarong from the heat.
